Hi guys.. was wondering if you could help me?.. i posted and intro in the intro section but this is my first actual post... anyways.... i am building a 51 ford f1 and i have a jag front suspension.. when i bought my truck it was hit hard in the front many years sgo and left to die... but being a hot rod guy i couldnt let that happen.. so long story short i dragged the poor old girl home.. now i had to replace the frame.. i bought a boxed frame from another fella who did a beautiful job on it.. but i am not 100% sure where the axle centerline is as he filled all the holes in the frame as well... is there anyone who has installed a jag front end that could give me a rough ball park on dimension where to place the crossmemeber .. my new glass fenders wont be here for another 4 weeks and i would like to get the ball rolling.... thanks...
I would suggest some pictures and a check of the vin to confirm what your working on.
I would suggest that you check drptop70ss (dave) build in one of his builds he give a measurement from the front frame rail

Reason: misspell
the front clip is out of a 1985 v12 jag.. was super clean.. i was checking out 70droptops post but all his pictures are gone... here is a pic of the cab on a frame i borrowed from my buddy a while ago just to move it around... he sold the frame before i actually got to working on my truck
Just went through his pics. I seen how he put it in just no dimension... i wish my darn fenders were here.
pictures with dimensions were in the build #1 thread, but based on differences in trucks I would still recommend having the fenders mounted as a double check. I don't trust anyone's measurements, even my own LOL If pictures do not show up thanks to photobucket let me know, if you are facebook I have a page with hundreds of different build pictures. Many others here with much nicer trucks have done this as well and can help you out.
Its much appreciated. I just set it at 21 1/2 and put 3 tacks on both side's for now... i am trying to borrow a fender off my buddy right now to hang it on and see if it works at that dimension..
I agree with Dave on the measurements trust issue, but it would be nice to see what we JAG users are coming up with.
I would think we all should be drawing up a list for comparison and determine an average of some sort.
What do ya'll think?
I am willing to do some measuring for the cause!
i agree with roy, check the vin numbers on the frame to make sure of that year.also your title should match the vin number stamped on the right side of the frame.
Unfortunately my cab and frame numbers dont match because my frame was wrecked... my cab is a 51 but the frame is from a 50. When i bought this boxed and smoothed frame the fella i got it from took it out of an original 1950 f1 and started building it. Then a deal came up on a aftermarket chassis so he just went that way.

Yes, that is a good idea. When I fitted my jag front up, I used the previous Mustang II mounting position to locate the new front. We set it up and put the fenders back on and it looked perfect.
After the springs settled a bit, you can see in this picture that it is too far forward. Just clears the fender, but doesn't look quite right.
