Replacement cowl seal

This is more of an FYI than anything else. I recently purchased 2 - E5TZ-1502824-A cowl seals from Dennis Carpenter for my '81's. I found that 1 of the screw holes doesn't line up with the original and required a new hole to be drilled. Pretty minor modification and the part looks and fits pretty well. I contacted Carpenter and they got back to me right away, apparently because this part is a E5TZ (being later than my '81) there could have been a change in the design and/or tooling. I don't know if the 85 up trucks have a different cowl screw layout but this appears to be the case. It is not quite an exact copy of my original 81 part as the bottom "lip" that covers the cowl seam is smaller and wouldn't fit nicely over the seam (I went on top of the seam) and the foam seal on the back is not as wide. That said, it looks a lot more original than the garage door seal I am currently using and should keep water off the air cleaner unlike the rock hard cracked original.

I have the same DC piece laying on the bench to install. I will let you know if my 83 screw layout is any different.

This is what DC replied:

"the original part was E0TZ-1502824-A. This was replaced by E3TZ-1502824-A in '83 and finally to E5TZ-1502824-A which covered from '80 - 86. There were probably some subtle changes in each one of these or there would have been no "replaced by" numbers is subsequent years. We had to use the latest tool dies available to us and have no idea what the E0TZ & E3TZ changes were. Please feel free to return these items to us if you are displeased as these are exact reproductions of the E5TZ seals."

So your '83 could be different than both mine and DC's.

No such part number as E0TZ-1502824-A .. it was E0TZ-1002824-A
