So my buddy finally listed his EB X. I was checking prices and noticed the average price for his X in excellent condition is $37k. It’s a V-10 with 40k miles. This is through KBB. Even a few others are close. I was surprised to see it for so much. He listed it for $28k so I think he should do good. He has a few guys calling him from Texas that are very interested. Here is the link. 2005 Excursion
So for anyone else that wants a V-10 X that looks like it just came off the showroom floor (that is how clean it is!) this would be a good buy!
Ya, I know. I think KBB is a little off. $37k is what you could’ve paid for it when new with discounts! And it’s dwfinitley worth more than NADA at $15k.
My 2005 XLT V10 recently flipped to 43,000 miles. I seem to recall that it was about $38,000 when new...so I'm surprised to think it could be worth that much 13 years later. If they really were bringing that much...it would almost make me think twice about parting with mine.
Ya I agree. In fact he has been sitting on it for a year. He bought a new class A last year so he has no use for it, just didn’t want to part with it. His wife finally said it’s not doing any good just sitting in the garage, and it takes up too much space. I remember last year when he asked me he said he was going to ask $25k I told him you will do good if you get $22k. So I don’t know, he is in no real rush to sell so he can hold out for his price which someone will eventually pay.
The only plus is you can’t buy a new one from Ford and a custom built new one is going for $90k! So for less than $30k for something that looks like it just came off the showroom floor and has 40k miles can be a deal to the right person.
That's partly my problem. I used to drag my trailer around a lot wth car shows, etc...and I just don't do that much anymore. In fact, the last time I used my trailer was to haul stuff from Mom's house to the auction. Working from home, took away most fo the need to go out in the snow.
I still like the Excursion, and enjoy driving it...but it takes up lots of garage space. There's no other SUV I'd rather have, and for my limited use these days...it's perfect. I don't know what I'd replace it with...especially with the cost SUVs and trucks these days.

I have been watching prices of these things for a while and think that KBB had either made a mistake or is basing their numbers on an extremely small data set to get the Eddie Bauer pricing on that rig.
If you input your Ex (2005 XLT V10 with 43,000 miles), I think you will be disappointed when you get the KBB results if you were expecting anywhere near $38,000. The Eddie Bauer is a nice upgrade, but not an additional $20,000 upgrade!
As someone said earlier, they are worth what someone is willing to pay and I hope everyone gets as much for them as possible. Good Luck.
Of course. I didn't see the KBB showing $38K and surely wouldn't expect to see that, either. Last I checked, Edmunds put mine at under $12,000.
I was referring to the asking price of the one in the thread. If the owner is getting calls at the asking price of $28K...it must be wanted in that condition..at that price. That figure makes me think (okay..just a little) about mine. As written above, what could I replace it with for that kind of money? A new Expedition starts over $50k.
Yep. He has gotten 3 calls on it. One guy has called him 3 times getting all the info he can. He has the original window sticker. He wanted the vin to check it, no accidents or anything. Typical warranty issues like weather strips and a sway bar link. I think he will get close to what he wants.
Well an update. He sold it this morning. Guy met him at the bank and exchanged cash. He was asking $28k and ended up with $26k! They both got got a good deal. All paper work including window sticker and he still had the factory tags for leather care on the seats. So he his happy. Hopefully the next guy takes as good care of it as he did.
So yes the X is worth whatever someone is willing to pay!
