Wireless Charging

Has anyone seen a new 2018 Expedition and the wireless charging pad in the center console? Who wants to be the one to figure out which parts we'd need on a 2017 super duty? Is it worth the effort or is fabricating something going to be easier?

I bought the following two items for the covered tray and the front of the console.

Fits perfect, but needs aftermarket USB cable to lay flat in place.

Wireless Charger - AMAZON Wireless Charger - AMAZON

Waiting on Delivery for the cable linked below. I will provide further input later this week once I receive new cable.

Sure thing! I get the cable tomorrow and will post pictures. I hate that the cable will still be visible and plugged into one of the two usb inputs, but it does fit perfect on the back side of the console. I wish I could add a usb port underneath the console and plug the unit in so the cable would be hidden by cutting a slit into the plastic to run the wire. The USB pair in the compartment will pop out and its easy to access the wiring harness. I just don't want to cut into the harness, so adding an additional usb input below the set might be difficult. I would assume I could buy the correct wire and run it directory to the fuse panel on its own power source. I just prefer not to spend hours on this project.

Interesting. I'll get the pad ordered, but I was messing around with a charge cord I had laying on my desk. Pretty simple to take apart and get the 90 bed. While I hate to tear into the console, having a tucked away charge pad within easy reach does sound worth it.

I’ve had the F-150 Center dash and console (now same in SDs) apart 4-5 times. It’s pretty easy.

I just ordered Ford parts HC3Z25045G34CA and HC3Z25045G34DA (they are called matts, but they are the tray inserts next to the cup holders) I will see what I can come up with for modifying them either with a pad or a stand/plug setup. I know I saw at some point someone was going to 3D print the sectioned off piece to maybe include a stand... not sure if that was on here or somewhere else.

https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/mat-6572533-1 (shown as <13586C and <13586D on the diagram)

now that I’m thinking about the last time (when switching out the USB module there might have been an extra slot of some sort in the rear. Maybe that would be a great spot to tap into. I think the USB module will pop out fairly easily with an automotive tool to check that.

There is a open slot, just unsure what adaptor I could use

another thought would be to wire the wireless charger to the under dash upfitter switches ( if you have them) I’m sure I’ve seen a video where if your wiring inside the cab then you use them and if outside accessories you use the wires under the hood.
