Lighting not turning off.

Hi, new to this forum. Hope you guys can help me out. Have a new 2017 F350 diesel. Do not drive in winter salt. Went over to hook up battery tender, open drivers door popped hood, hooked up tender correctly, closed hood till under hood light went out, closed drivers door.
Cargo lamp above rear window, trailer hook up lamp on tailgate and puddle lamps would not turn offf. All were off when I walked out there.
Finally went off when system timed out (battery saver function I presume) so,,,, what is wrong?...

Thanks in advance for any answers before I have to go to the dealership.

Frustrated. Bruce

Did you remove the battery tender and close the hood all of the way? Perhaps there’s a “door ajar” function with the hood.

Checked that. Let the truck sit for a couple hours, repeated the same procedures I did at first. Worked fine.....
must have been some sort of system hick-up. Will see if it does it again. Just plain weird. Thx—

Those cargo bed lights plus the mirror puddle lamps and tailgate spotlight cannot be shut off with a door open...they stay on forever until the battery minder gets them. Dumb design, buts that's how they operate. I believe the hood lamp shuts off based on its own internal "level" device. You probably didn't have the hood closed enough to trip the hood switch which is used for alarm, hood ajar, etc.

Question

The trucks include an owner-configurable courtesy lamp delay function. Go to the menu in the instrument panel display and follow this path:

Settings > Advanced Settings > Vehicle > Lighting > Autolamp Delay

You can select OFF, 10 Seconds, 20 seconds, or 120 seconds

Is yours set to 120 seconds?

HTH,
Jim / crewzer

Yes, I checked all doors and hood. The lights did stay on far linger than 120sec. Think is was just a glitch. Fine now, will see if it happens again. Thanks for the comments.

This is good info ................ but

Is there a way to turn "off" all the auto lamps when you open the door???

My truck looks like a Chirstmas decoration at night when I open the door. Sometimes I would rather not have any lamps turn on. Have not been able to determine a setting for that.

Lots of little quirks in the new truck electronic systems--my truck won't lock with fob if the hood is not closed.

Forscan silent/dark mode? I think that does what you are after-

Dark Car mode is what you are after, also there is a good switch which monitors the hood. If its ajar the lights stay on and remote start is disabled.

I had a similar situation. Interior, cargo, puddle lights all stayed on with what I thought were closed doors.

Found that the drivers rear door was not fully closed - it looked closed, but was slightly ajar.

Closed the door fully and the lights went out.

If I was still in the truck I think I would have seen the "Door Ajar" warning.

Open hood could cause the same problem. My 2017 F250 Platinum has "Hood Ajar" warning (due to light under hood I gather).
