I just searched the basic Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) private sale values on......
What is weird right now is how many 2017s are still on lots with 2019 orders open. Has to be unusual for Ford. They really screwed up on the length of the 2018 model year it seems.
Well just to add to it, my 2000 F350 7.3 had a trade-in value of ~$8K in 2011 and today it still has the same value. Actually thinking about selling it, privately....
Anyway, just because Ford is letting some order a '19 now does not mean they are making them. '19s will show up on the lot in the 4th quarter just like they always do. We are just in the first of April, 1st part of the 2nd quarter, now.

Yep! I think you nailed it right there. I also think that's partly why I got such a good deal on my 2017 last August. It seems really strange that they're about to have brand new 2017's, 2018's, and 2019's all on the lot at the same time. Kinda wondering how low they'll go on pricing for the 2017's soon...
Keep blowing smoke. I am hopefully to get my '18 in July.
You may get your 2018 car in July but that doesn't mean there won't also be 2019s arriving in July. There is an expected 2 week build vacation in July. This is the factory timetable:
· 03/02/2018 – 2018MY Fleet Final Order Date
· 04/05/2018 – 2018MY Last Day to Spec Change
· 06/17/2018 – 2018MY Job Last Date
· 03/05/2018 – 2019MY Order Bank Open Date
· 05/17/2018 – 2019MY Scheduling Begins
· 06/18/2018 – 2019MY Job #1 Date
Ford's note:
***Due to the significant manufacturing complexities of balancing production plans for three vehicle lines at Kentucky Truck Plant, the 2018MY Super Duty had an unusual timing plan (November ’17 – June ’18). We are working with manufacturing to return to more normal Model Year timing for 2019MY and beyond***
Looks like I will be waiting until July, I don't want the new truck until October anyway. This could be very interesting, there might be some great deals on 18s at that point. Also want to see if the power ratings will change for 19. Right now the order guide says TBD so still too early for Ford to tip their cards to the competition. Call me crazy but the 18 2500 4x4 6.7 crew cab I test drove lately had more more spirit than a 17 I tested the same day. They seemed identical but not sure if they had the same rear. I was actually a little disappointed with both and was expecting to be "blown away" based on the power rating numbers but neither seemed any faster than my 2000 7.3 PSD or my 03.5 Cummins (but that had a mild turbo upgrade and tuner) maybe even a bit slower than these. Guess its all the fancy new torque management built into the pcm to save the trans.

I’m new to this game, but before there are any great deals on the ‘18’s, there’s a heck of a lot of brand new ‘17’s on the lots down here in Florida.
I rhink the 17 6.7 has slightly lower torque and hp than the 18. Its a game every year between the big 3 so we'll see if Ford waits until 20 for their next bump. Im hoping for 19 as I can't wait til 20 plus not sure if I would want the 10 speed trans in it's debut year.

Not sure how they are going from final inspection to sitting on a dealer lot 10 working days, maybe around Kentucky by the end of July but not other lots. Realistically your looking at August... which is damn early and why Ford is apologizing for it.

Yep, sure did, all by my lonesome, right after noticing your ingenious internet name you got there....
One last reason to order an '18. White Gold color option is being dropped for the '19MY. If I had waited a week or so more i'd 'a been SOL.

I'm not sure I care about the 10 speed ever. The 6R140 in my 2017 is a work of art. On the other hand, the 10 speed in my loaner F150 that I'm driving is obnoxious and I'm not a fan.

they only need to build 5 days worth of trucks without issue. That should not be a problem since there really weren't any major changes and they will then start shipping. There are many dealers within a half days travel by convoy. My connection in Michigan gets them within the first week
And I did not say they will be nationwide, I said they will start hitting lots in July.. NOT 4th quarter.
Ford isnt apologizing for anything, they said a while ago they are now realigning the production. Dates/model years with the expedition and navigator which makes sense for efficiency.
The last time there were issues that stopped trucks from shipping was the 15MY which there were a ton of issues. Ford had to rent lots all over Louisville to store the trucks till they could fix them.
I personally decided to wait on ordering new,, cannot justify spending 65k+ on another toy right now. Especially when there are many used 17s and 18s coming on the market with low miles that can be had at 15k less. With that said heavy duty truck sales have been pretty strong lately according to the news so good for Ford, somebody has to buy new so there are used ones available LOL!
