Boxing 53 f100 frame
I am getting ready to tear down my 53 f100. I want to box in the front rails. My delima is I have a Toyota power steering box and I have a cross member for a 350 motor. I was wondering on the left side if the boxing could be up to the cross member then to the steering box then from the steering box on back.?

The only difference boxing will make is that it will trap moisture and make it near impossible to inspect or treat in future. For certain you can miss out the steering box but you are better off missing out the rest as well if you have a beam axle.

Unless I am missing something it appears that the smaller boxes are remanufactured earlier (67-72) boxes, but will fit in place of the 76 & up "Volare" boxes. If so, I'm surprised someone on here hasn't discovered the swap before. I've never had a clearance problem, but all (4 or 5) of the Volare IFS swaps I've done have been under '56 frames.
