I have a 77 F150. Previous Owner molested the wiring on the truck. I am looking for someone who can take a picture of their brake light switch so I see what color the wires are that are supposed to be plugged into it. Or that can tell me. I have a few wiring schematics and am either not good at looking at them (which I am not, wiring isn't my forte) or I am overlooking it. I even had them taken to a printing shop and blown up as large as they could without altering the text badly.
I have replaced the brake light switch twice and the little silver hazard switch. I have no running lights or brake lights.
Ok so I don't have the wire color handy but just a thought.
Did you check for power at the switch via test light or meter? Should be 12v on one side and when pedal pressed 12v on both sides of switch.
IF memory serves there are two connecters going to the rear of the truck. Also I think they are square 4 pin. I believe one to be in engine compartment left inner fender somewhere under master cylinder. The other is back at the bumper driver side inner frame rail.
Also grounds. Seems to be a lot of the problem.
I believe that if it were a ground issue that you would still have some sort of light function back there including side marker lights. So again it sounds like no 12v to me.
The brake light switch is (two) red w/ black trace wires.
Also, what do you mean by "little silver hazard switch"? Do you have factory cruise control? If you do, there are two brake switches, one for the lights and one that deactivates the cruise.

No cruise control. One little silver switch. The hazard light switch. Thats how I looked it up online and thats what it was called at the local parts store as well.
Ok, then I believe you are referring to the signal stat or flasher which is the common slang. I don't think that has an effect on brake and running lights. Do you have side marker lights on the bed? If not I think it is going to be no 12v rather than a ground issue. But with all the ground issues it doesn't hurt to get the grounds in good shape.

The 4 way flasher switch is made as part of the T/S switch, so it cannot be replaced by itself. You can see the 4 way flasher button, as it protrudes from the right side of the steering column.
What you may have replaced is the 4 way flasher itself. See pic for its location and the location of the T/S flasher.
Number Dummy. I am a wiring dumby. That picture looks very informative but it just confused the heck out of me.
I just replaced the Turn Signal Switch in the steering column. New plug and all. Still no Lights.
Here are my wires that lead to the brake light switch. I got as many pictures as possible.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Really wanna drive this thing but not until I feel it is safe for me and others.
This silver can is a flasher, but which one? The T/S flasher is a light duty type, plugs into the back of the instrument cluster.
The 4 way flasher nestles into a bracket that attaches to the back side of the dash w/a screw. This flasher is a heavy duty type, as it has a louder CLICK.
The brake (stop) lamp switch (13480 in pic below) threads into an adapter (13A629 in pic below) on the brake pedal...and it's adjustable.

This is the only "flasher" I see. It isn't in a bracket it just hangs. But that one has a wire from the brake light switch running to it.

Previous Owner Hacked this truck to hell.
Pic in post #11 shows the position of both flashers and identifies them. You can see that the T/S flasher plugs into the back of the instrument cluster at the far right in pic.
