Hi All
I just picked up my new 2017 F250 and I had a remote start installed by the dealer. When i got home I noticed that the parking lights do not turn on when the truck is running after being started with the remote start. This makes it hard to tell if the truck has started or not. Note I have tried leaving the light switch both in auto and in the manual off, but it still does not work. So is the parking lights not being on normal? Is there a setting to turn them on?
This is not normal and I do no think its a setting, I would contact the selling dealer.
What he said...
I have remote start on my 2017 from the factory, and my parking lights are always on when I remote start; this helps me spot the truck in a dark parking lot and lets me know it did indeed start.
It depends on what was installed. I actually have two systems installed. The 12volt.solutions unit that uses my Factory 3-button fob to start the truck has a T-harness for the headlight switch that results in the parking lights being on when truck is started and running. This is what I'm used to.
I ALSO have the Ford Remote Access system installed and this does NOT illuminate parking lights when started from my app or a computer. But I have confirmation in the app that it is running.

Remote Access for starting my truck from out of FOB range and for the forgetful "did I lock my truck?" scenario. Plus I enjoy the shock sensors with text notifications. Peace of mind.
12volt for the convenience of just starting it up without pulling out my phone and opening the app.

I like options.
did youe truck come with everything for the Fordpass or did you buy it all after the fact?

FordPass is different than Remote Access, which is different than SmartLink. Super confusing, I know.
Remote Access is the discontinued program from Ford which consists of a VSS vehicle security module (shock sensor, etc) and then an RMU Remote Modem. I bought both of these from Levittown Ford and installed them in about 10 minutes. Kevin at Fairway activated it for me. I pay 49.99/year for the service. If you can find the parts, this is still the least expensive option.
The newer SmartLink system works in a similar way to a vehicle equipped with FordPass communication from the factory (NO super duties have the FordPass from factory). It's an OBD dongle with a monthly subscription.
I have the factory remote start & have added the remote access (with the $49.99 per year subscription) and remote starting either way my roof / parking lights come on.

I believe this rings true for FACTORY installed remote starts with the 4-button fob only.
Not saying the lights thing isn't an issue, but after watching a video on youtube my understanding is that the light on the remote turns green if the truck successfully remote starts.
My truck using the 4button remote start when stock, lighted the parking lights. Since I did my Forscan mods for secure mode, TPMS, Bambi mode, I noticed the parking lights don’t come on upon remote start. Only once I unlock the doors. I kinda like it like that, less signs the vechicle is running. My FOB does tell me it started successfully with the green lights, or if not with red light.
All Ford remote start kits activate the parking lights, regardless of factory equipped or not.
I would venture to guess your 12volt solutions kit is the cause.
This is an interesting idea. Wonder if it's due to the existence of the module in the OBDII harness or the T-Harness on the headlight switch? I could trouble shoot...but I think I'll let it alone. I'm happy enough to have both starting options.
