Trans Line Info Needed

1999 F250 Super Duty, 5.4L 4WD.

What size is the transmission line going into the passenger side of the case? 5/16?

What's the thread size on the fitting on that side? The previous owner somehow broke it off an decided that JB Weld was the best fix...

Thanks.

If I drop the pan, do I have access to the other side of the hole so I can block it off? I’d need to prevent shavings from contaminating the tranny.

What’s the best way to keep shavings out of the tranny? Wadded up ball of tape, then fish it out with a pair of needle nose?

What about putting an inline filter on the trans oil line?

So the passenger side is the output to the oil cooler? That’s a good idea, then. I can plumb in a filter, drive the truck for a while, then either replace the filter or just repair the line.

Both the output to the cooler and the return from the cooler are on the passenger's side of the transmission. The front fitting is the output, the rear one is the return.

I’m pretty sure that’s the return, then. I’ll have to crawl back under the truck to double check, but the busted fitting is at the rear passenger corner of the trans pan.

Filter wouldnt be any any help in that case.
