These are DynoMax VT's on my 48 F1 with a Ford 408 Cleveland engine.
After posting this thread I was not aware that DynoMax discontinued the VT. I really like the sound and have not had any problems.
I'm running a SBC and have headers that runs dual 2.25" with no cross over (may add one) to Flowmaster 40's that dump right in front of the rear tires... It's LOUD! I would like to quieter as it get's on my nerves after awhile...
Hey Jeff,
Take your time on the muffler choice. It really matters & there are a lot of
choices - the noise difference between brands is significant.
Hmmmm.. We started with Flowmaster 40 series... Ridiculously loud.
My son loved them ... I was going deaf.. My neighbors were bringing their
children in off the street...
In our local Craigslist there were just a ton of Mustang GT guys swapping out their
brand new stock mufflers for more aggressive ones. We picked up a pair of new
stock GT mufflers - nice, aggressive, but not mind numbingly loud....
Good luck over there. We've got a 1950 F1 with a 400HP 351W with side exit
pipes... mufflers really matter to your quality of ride.
In my experience there are two things which affect muffler loudness...a crossover pipe and where it exits. A crossover pipe and a rear exit will reduce loudness. Lack of a crossover pipe and a side exit will increase loudness. In both of my trucks I used turbo mufflers without a crossover pipe and a side exit. Sound was exactly what I wanted.
