Then the dimensions of the rails on the frame and where the cv front end were cut would have to match. Rails on the 54 are 34 inches. Also i assume since this is weld in, you could easily mess this up. Would sure like to get some direction/ help before I jump off into this.
Just my opinion but Buy the 2003-11 Crown Vic cradle. You won’t have to cut your frame and without too much hassle you can change back to original if need be.
Not to rehash old post on this topic, but needing some perspective. My 50 f1 was mounted by previous owner on a 86 f150 frame. Bad fit, someone has offered me a tremendous deal on a near perfect 54 f100 frame. Rear is identical to 50 f1, front is 34 inches, which is 2 inches wider than 50 f1. He is throwing in a 99 Mercury Marquis front end along with the rear end. This would give me disc brakes, front and back. In addition the outside of rotor on the front end on the Mercury front end is 60 inches, the 86 150 is 62 1/2 inches, which would narrow my track by 2 1/2 inches. (Wheels now almost stick out of fender wells)
Not to concerned about the mismatch of the 54 frame to the 50 cab, after all it is on a 86 150 now. Has extensive "modifications" now.
The 99 Mercury Marquis front end is a weld in. The guy is practically given this to me. Any thoughts?
The devil is always in the details. In my own experience I have never spent so much money as I have trying to make a "tremendous deal" work in practice. If you have the skills then go for it...
Could not agree more about the details. Stuck in a dilemma, don't like the way my truck sits now. And no , don't have the skills for this task at all. Trying to accomplish two things the most cost efficient way I can, lower the front end and narrow my front track.
Truck drives good, steers good, just does not look good on an 86 150 frame.
Would love some info on the pictures, stuff looks good. Thanks
google "team 321" they're in fl. more pics on their site. I wish I knew about them before I narrowed my 2011 CV for my 56'. chassis engineering in AZ makes a really nice crossmember using dodge ram truck parts. check that out first too.
