I read about everybody putting a Fumoto valve on their Mishimotor radiator. My question is, how bad a mess does it make draining without one? I need to drain my coolant down to reroute my coolant hose coming out of the oil cooler. Can I use a 5 gallon bucket and catch all my coolant? What does it drain like without the valve?
I don’t know, I inatalled the Fumoto along with the Mishimoto. I have a hose that pushes on the valve so I can drain straight into a coolant jug when I need to re-use it.
It basically shoots straight out horizontally and splashes all over everything until the pressure is low enough that it just dribbles down. So yeah it makes a really big mess. You could try using some kind of splash guard to direct it better but just draining a radiator a 5-gallon bucket should be fine. Draining the block brings out about three and a half and your system holds eight at Max with mishimoto.
