What are my options for rear axle swaps/disc brake conversions DRW/CC truck

I have a 1996 F350 4wd dually cab and chassis. It has the sterling 10.25 rear and i want to upgrade the brakes to hydro boost as well as rear disc brakes. I can’t seem to find a kit that works with a cab and chassis dually rear. And if there isn’t, what axle can i swap in that would have the same dimensions and driveshaft size?

Not a Ford axle but 01+ dodge cab and chassis Dana 80 were 8x6.5 and will bolt in and had disc brakes.

That’s an awesome idea. Do you think it’ll bolt to the ford leafs and driveshaft?

I’ve also been doing some research and I’m not possitive but e350 cab and chassis dually vans came with a 10.5 with discs and were 8x6.5 bolt patterns. I’m not sure if an e350 cab and chassis has the same spring width though.

I highly doubt the dodge axle will have the same spring pad location, there just isn't any reason it should.
The E-series rear axles might, but those are pretty rare to come across.

These guys have about 6 or so of them in 4.10 ratio. They are ambulances and seem to be cab and chassis trucks and even the 450 has 8 lug axles and a 10.5. I’m not sure if the driveshaft connection is the same but i think i can swap yokes in the 10.25 and 10.5 if i remember correctly. I asked them for some measurements but they didn’t seem too enthusiastic.

They are telling me the axle is 49” pin to pin and i just measured mine at around 41 or 42”. I guess I’ll just have to keep looking. The only kit i saw required removal of the hubs to install and calipers are $320. So a kit is going to cost around $1000

If I'm not mistaken the Dodge axle spring perches measure at around 41.5" apart

Interesting read here that may help. He has used some different axles and it doesn’t seem he had any major mounting changes

Man, I don't know if I'd want those tiny calipers on a dually truck that is meant to haul and tow heavy.

Yeah i just decided to order all new hardware for the rear brakes. The shoes, drums and cylinders are new. Front end is completely new. It doesn’t seem like the self adjusters are working and are backing off some times. I’m still going to upgrade to hydroboost though. After driving my 2006 6.0 for the past few days i just really like the brakes on it so much more and would like to get my 7.3l into that realm of braking.

Do a write up on hydroboost if you go that route.

Here's a link to a nice write-up:

I was trying to get better brakes on my 4x4 CCDRW as well. I did the Hydroboost and it was a little better. The rears were still giving me problems. I replace everything in the rear and still had issues with the adjusters. I finally figure out that the parking brake cables were not releasing all the way. This would not allow the shoes to close against the pin at the top of the assemble and therefore the brakes would never self-adjust.

Both of my parking brake cables are new. I didn’t replace adjusters or adjuster cables they seemed fine but I’m just replacing them now so every single thing is new. It seems like the brakes are excellent for the first month or two or so then they just gradually get softer. It still stops just requires more pedal travel with less feedback.
