Talking Please help me with this mess!

Don't know how many of you guys are afflicted with FTE syndrome and must read every post as I do, but I must again submit a post on my transmission since only ONE person answered it in the drivetrain forum. My M@z!@ M5OD is on its way out and I am scrambling to find the best price on a ZF transmission to replace it, what I need from you guys is all the information I can possibly get as quickly as I can get it! Before I am flogged for not gathering this information myself via searches please keep in mind that I work several 12 hour shifts straight in a steel mill and have very LIMITED time for internet usage and ZERO time for calling local scrapyards (by the time I drive home, scrub off the grime, and eat a quick dinner it's time to go to sleep and start all over again {okay, I squeeze a couple of beers in there too})! Please bury me in an avalanche of technical tidbits such as the gear ratios for the ZF AND the M5OD, the actual load rating of both transmissions, any other necessary parts such as driveshafts; adaptors for my transfer case (4x4); etc... (the way I understand it this should be a very straight forward swap after I cough up the dough). Yes, please amaze me with your infinite knowledge of all things Ford! I am on my knees asking for your help (okay, so I really just dropped my beer). Please accept my most sincere thanks for the impending deluge of information I know my fellow I6 enthusiasts will bring forth!

I am not going to be much help, but have you tried your post on the transmision and driveline forum?

By the way, you should probably reduce the beer consumption, It can only help, except on weekends.

Yeah, I got the same response that I am getting now! I have had enough time to research the ratios of both transmissions, but I would still welcome any information. Thanks.

From what I hear, madza are junk, and ZFs are the way to go.

ZF's are pretty expensive though..($500+).

unless overdrive is a big factor, go np435. beefy, tough, and about $150-200 in the junkyard

Well, I got off work this morning at 0800 and picked up a ZF S547 out of a '97 F-250 for $650. Everything went fairly smooth. Anyway, I now have a ZF 5-speed in my '93 I6 F150 4x4 and I am VERY HAPPY! If any of you have questions hopefully I will be more help than what I received with these posts. If anyone wants a working M@z!@ M5OD R2 transmission please feel free to contact me, and I will sell it DIRT cheap! Haven't slept in over 36 hours and the beer is starting to slow me down, good night.
