need help with build

do i need a 0ff road carb for a 4x4 truck i got a 76 f100 with a 460

Not unless you plan to do some rock crawling or some major off roading. A 650 Holley would be just fine.

Agreed. My truck is a farm truck and spends most of it's life off camber, and it's got a street carburetor. No float bowl issues.

When I was rebuilding/setting up the. carb on my truck did a lot of web archive searches, and was surprised to find a whole sub-genre or almost cult following - reading the Jeep forums. The Autolite/Motorcraft 2100 series of carburetor is highly sought after carburetor for off road use, even for the rockcrawler nutcases. The consensus seems to be while they aren't EFI it's damn close.

Or if you wana stay with a cheaper carb for good off roading you could go with one that has more of a centered fuel bowl and float, just do a lot of reading on how to properly tune it. I won't name it unless you don't know as its name scares some.
