Hi Guys ,
Just trying to figure out what Fox 2.0 shock lengths to use on my 2016 F-450 The front shock is the stud type and if I measure from the big washer closest to the top shock down to the bottom shock bolt center sitting at rest its 18 1/2 . How do you usually measure the front shocks on a ford , how much drop should I have .
Seems like the 0" to 1.5 is the 980-24-677 which is 21.95 extended
Truck has a snow plow package and found 980-24-646 extended is 24.05 , I did find this number stating 1.5 lift or snow plow package .
Are the fronts measured from the top of the shock body ?
The rear sitting at rest is 24" from eye to eye
I was looking at 980-24-655 extended 28.45 or 980-24-647 extended 29.45
I would think either one would be fine but the 28" might be a better choice .
Measure mount to mount at rest, at full compression and at full drop. You want a little more travel than the full compression/ drop measurements for a margin of error. Or call the shock manufacturers tech line and describe what your dealing with, make, model stock height or lifted, intended use, is there aftermarket equipment that adds weight front/back, etc and they can point you to an off the shelf part that might work or even custom valve some.
go to the fox factory website and look up your truck and lift.
without a fork lift, its really hard to get compress and extended measurements.
you would think that the big shock makers would have this figured out...they are close..but not exact.
btw, you will love the fox 2.0 shocks.
I went with what the factory website said my truck uses and they were close...but not exact.....to make my truck match exact...I would need to do a 2" front lift.....back was close.
I went out and bought a nitrogen setup so I could refill my shocks
if time was not a factor,,,,I would have had fox vavle mine heavier.
You can also send them an email or call them. I put fox shocks on my '79 Scout II and sent Fox an email to confirm part numbers (ordered on Amazon). They replied to my email in less than an hour.
