I've seen various posts that mention some problems with LED bulbs. Let's say a truck had every bulb switched to LED. Which ones actually can cause a problem? Are there any in the instrument cluster that will make something else not function? What actually needs to be done with the tail/brake lights and is it only the E40D that has a problem or is the 4R70W affected also?
The answer this may depend on the year of your truck as that determines the kind of socket used for the bulb.
LED bulbs are polarity sensitive so they must fit into the socket only one way to work properly.
When you try a bulb you must check all other lights also to see if there are feedback issues to other circuits. Don't ask me how I learned this.
I hope I am as lucky as you were and don't have any problems. I've seen quite a few LED bulbs that were either no brighter or only slightly brighter and most don't seem spread light throughout the entire lens well.
On my 94 F150 the only problems I had with the instrument cluster was that some of them would not turn off - like the battery, seat belt, and check engine bulbs. I ended up leaving those as regular 194 bulbs and just changed out the illumination bulbs and the turn signal indicator bulbs.
I also replaced the dome light, ash tray light, glove box light, and door panel/courtesy lights with LED. I just recently replaced the reverse bulbs with a high powered set of LEDs that cost 15 bucks for the pair, and while I like the way they look, they don't light anything up any better.
I bought some led bulbs on amazon for like $10, they were much brighter than the normal incandescent. But still weren’t bright enough for my liking so I bought two led cube lights that are like 1800 lumens for another ten bucks and now I can use my reverse lights for headlights lol and it all cost $20

What bulbs did you use for your backup lights? I replaced my standard backup bulbs with LED's and they were abysmal so I changed back to the standard ones.
I couldn’t find them on my amazon recent orders, but the brand was endpage and they are the ones that have projectors lenses on the ends. You probably can find them again on amazon, my phone just decided not to work.
Cruise controls use the brake lights circuits and leds can cause issues. And you have to go with a electronic turn signal flasher. The charge light has current on it all the time the engine is on and the alternator is blocking it with current from coming on when it is charging. The dim glow is diode leakage. The other warning lights also have current on all the time the engine is on looking for ground it’s leakage to ground.
