so I’m in a good predicament of having two good trucks to choose from. I tow a 39 ft toy hauler for work/ living and daily drive my truck. I’m mobile with work right now and drive 2000 miles or so a month. I have a 2001 f350 dually v10, all set up, flatbed, hitch, ranch hand etc. 4.30 gears
I also have a 2004.5 Cummins 2500 Cclb 6spd, b&w companion hitch
both trucks have excellent tires brakes etc, and the dodge will be getting air bags. Both trucks are overloaded technically
I’m headed back to where my trailer is (currently visiting family considering swapping trucks to take back) over 1000 miles away. I can’t just hook up and try it out.
So do I stick with the v10 getting 6mpg towing and 9 unloaded or opt for the Cummins non dually for ??? Towing and 17 plus unloaded (17.03 hand calc today)
thank you for any insight

I'm thinking the 04 will be overloaded on the TH by a bunch, but I'm not positive.
Well as you’d have it I drove the Cummins back to the trailer to really figure out what I want. It’s awesome to have the mileage and power (stock) I’m getting 17 to 18.9 unloaded hand calculated. I’ve yet to tow the big trailer any real distance but towing roughly 4K pounds I was getting 14 to 15mpg. All my fuel savings are slowly going with things like a radiator that went out, carrier bearing, and now the clutch has maybe a couple weeks left in its life. I’m thinking about selling the Cummins and just driving the dually, enjoying the boring reliability. I’m thinking about adding a tune from 5star and a y pipe to give the v10 some more power. Thank you for your input, I’ll see if I can limp the dodge home to fix it there, laying in the dirt working on it sucks
