Driving me mad

2000 f250 5.4 2wd....
is now in limp mode. Tune up and replaced cyl 5 coil pack. Cleaned TB. Hose clamped IAC snorkel hose on the backside. Cleaned mass air and even swapped it with another. Still getting a low idol under load at a stop 500-700RPM’s. Once light turns green and I start rolling it runs better with periodic shutters in power. Now in limp mode...any help appreciated. Been busting knuckles for 2 weeks. No engine lights on after reset. Just got this truck and batteling it everyday.

With all the cleaning and a few replacement parts. I’m wondering if you have pulled codes?

also maybe want to try to reset computer. If I’m not mistaken remove the nev. battery cable for like 10 minutes or so....

”I’m just reaching here too”

Pulled codes and got

02’s consistently after resetting the system. Not having any exhaust minus manifolds to the down pipe connector with about 10” of pipe. No cats no muffler on the truck. Clogged and rotted. Getting an generic one installed this weekend so I can get the 02’s in it. But I don’t know if that’s the whole issue.
I did pull all the ngk plugs out of it today and checked. #8 wasn’t pretty and new like the others so cleaned the hole and sprayed out the the hunk and replaced with new. Idol is a little better like it’s trying to adjust the right mixture and will touch that sweet spot for a second or two then drops again.
Until I get the exhaust done I can’t do to much more unless you got an idea or 2?

The computer needs the input from the O2 sensor for proper fuel scheduling. That's the first issue.

Again, have you scanned it for codes. This should be 1st step for any troubleshooting.

Do you know the psi for the fuel?

i can get a pressure tester at my local shop to test the rail. If it’s running lean doesn’t that translate to being to rich and the truck trying to lean it out? That sucks with the pump problems!

Are those readings with the engine running ? Sounds like the IAC (idle air) valve is not getting a reading. Check if everything is hooked up first (wires to sensors) The 02 errors could be a result of some other issue....

No key on engine off

IAC was on cause I unplugged while running to see if there was a difference in the motor. Had to go clear the lights afterwards and haven’t seen that code pop up since.
I’m going to get a generic aftermarket car put on possibly tomorrow and order some 02’s and take that off the list. Hopefully that will bring this back to life. Would that also give me a hesitant “******* pedal” sounds like going fast but slowwwwwy moving

As in engine revving but not accelerating fast ? That sounds like transmission is in limp mode.

What you need to do is clear all codes, then try run it (or run it ) again for a little bit and then check for codes again.
Sometimes certain codes will set other codes as well but a little later on. Kind of like a domino effect. You basically get codes for things that aren't really broken.
It could be the oxygen sensor , check if it's hooked up ok. (something snagged the wires to it ?)

Also, it says low voltage... Check the battery first I'd say. (including the connections) What is the voltage reading with engine off ? And with engine running ?

I too would go after the low battery message first. That will make every other code, and the operation of the engine suspect.

Check all battery cables, ground and hot, and chase any other ground connections.

Then reset (10, 20 60, 240 minutes?) by disconnecting battery power to get a complete system reset. Clear codes and see what happens then. At this point, I am prepared to see codes, I just do not want to see low battery in the list.

it’s more like it wants to go but something is restricting it from going. At first I was thinking maybe to much slack in the cable to pedal but that was scratched cause the Motor will downshift but won’t take off like a bat outta hell.
The neg terminal connector was crappy so I reconnected them correctly and tight. Volts are good.

I hear ya. Got that fixed bad ground wire to terminal. Reset and codes are back but no scanner available at the moment. Going to order one off amazon this weekend cause I have to constantly get to a parts store with a family makes it a task.

All right some new codes. Mass was unplugged. Where’s the air temp sensor located?
