Is there a graph somewhere here that shows alternator output vs engine rpms? 2014 6.2 How fast does my engine have to be spinning to get a good charge? TY
a low battery should be recharge by a good battery charger.. not your alternator..
my opinion.
fyi.. alternator output is graphed using a set resistance... not to charge a battery..
as depending on level of discharge.. internal resistance will be different in every battery.
my 6.2L has a 157 amp alternator... max output is around 3,000 rpm's
My truck sits a lot ,so when i do drive it i drop the trans down a gear or 2 to get higher rpm does that make any sense to do that?
Install a battery tender and run the plug down to the bumper, then just plug it in when you're going to let the truck sit.
Battery Tender 800 is a SuperSmart Battery Charger that will Constantly Monitor, Charge, and Maintain your Battery. It's Encapsulated and Protected from Moisture by an Electrical Insulation
a smart battery charger.. or disconnect a battery cable..
I am a fan of the battery tender brand.. I own 3 of them..
Motorcycle
Lawn tractor
electric start gas generator..
24/7/365...... all 3 of them.
you are burning many dollars of fuel.. when a battery charger uses a few cents a day of electricity .
besides.. pulling a starting battery below 50 percent shortens the life of the battery...
my 2004 Dodge truck. the battery lasted 12 years.
my current Ford F 250. battery lasted 8/2011 to 10/2017.. and 152,000 miles...
