2010 Explorer EB edition Sync help?

Hello all,
Was hoping someone can shed some light on this for me, I recently just purchased a 2010 Explorer EB edition with the nav system with voice activated. This was purchased from a private seller whose husband passed away, It seems everything is working even the sirius radio which I have no idea how long it will because I know that requires a subscription. But the maps might be outdated and I would like to update them if they don't cost much too do, also my phone I was able to sync with the system but I have a feeling it's still linked too some of the things he might of had , Today I got into my explorer and on my phone it told me how long too get home but it wasn't my home . So my question is before I go on SyncMyRide and put in the Vin and register , will doing so kill what ever is currently active ? Does this cost money and need a subscription ? I never had a system like this so it's all new to me.
