First start after sitting for years?

To all
I just picked up a "drive way find" that was a running truck, but has been sitting for a few years. The motor turns freely by hand. It has oil and antifree in it. I was going to take each plug out and put some WD40 in each cyclinder and run the fuel line out of of a gas can to bypass the fuel tank. Is there anything else I should be doing for a re start after years of sitting?

I would pull the distributor and use a pre-lube attachment on a drill to turn the oil pump. Have someone rotate the crank at least two full turns while oiling to make sure oil gets on all the bearing surfaces. A whistler is handy and fast for finding TDC on the compression stroke for when you stab the distributor back in.

If it rolls by hand, I don't even think I'd mess with the WD-40. Dump a bit of gas in the carburetor, make sure to put the air cleaner back on (to catch a backfire if you have one) and start it. I bought a '66 Mustang with a stuck engine 9 years ago. I removed the plugs and gave each cylinder several pumps from a oil can of Marvel Mistry Oil and let it set for a few days. I was able to finally work the crank back and forth by hand, then spin several full revolutions by hand. Spun it with the starter to clear any remaining oil from the cylinders, put the plugs back in and it started right up. I have been driving it every summer with no further engine work.
