Wish I had taken a pic... Anyway, I had 10 tons of 1.5" rock delivered on Friday that the truck driver attempted to tailgate spread as he backed up across virgin soil. He made it about 15' but hit a soft spot and down she went. I didn't figure my 250 would have enough lead in it's a$$ to pull it out and would just sit there and spin the tires but was pleasantly surprised. The trucker went ahead and dumped what was left in the bed but I think the 250 might have pulled him out loaded. I put it down in low range, took the slack out of the chain, and barely had to even give it any throttle and she just pulled it out without a strain. Barely slipped the tires doing so. I was amazed and happy I didn't have to call out a wrecker. Love this truck!!
I switched from an 07 150 to my 17 350 6.7. Wait until you're pulling a decent sized trailer on an uphill onramp trying to merge. With the 6.7, it is effortless... just push on the throttle a bit more, watch the turbo gauge go up, and giggle.

I tow a '24 car hauler that weights nearly 9K lbs fully loaded. I was merging from a rather short entrance ramp with a guy in a Miata just ahead of me. He was on it and I was right on his butt trying to get up to speed for the short merge. I couldn't use full throttle because I was catching him. As we merged onto the 4 lane I went to full throttle and passed him. The look was priceless.

Automatic transmission in the Miata? One: He should have been ahead with a stick. Two: With a stick, no priceless look; eyes are focused on the road as you run through the gears.
The beauty of the diesel and the automatic transmission is all that low end torque.

Cool!! But ya need a load behind ya!!! My 38’ gooseneck weighs 8K empty!!!! Yup, the diesel power will git ‘er done. LOL. And my 5er is at 13K empty.......both at 18000 when loaded up.
I’ve been more than amazed with the torque on my srw 350 6.7 . Been on the beach at Pismo, tires aired down yanking around our 40ft fifth wheel on the sand. The fifth wheel weighs in at 15k dry add water and toys and camp gear she may be at 18k . Like butter on the sand . This thing has Amazing acceleration getting up on the hwy. towing up the grapevine like a freight train,
I don’t like to speed over 55 but getting there is easy even with a load as big as ours.
Just thinking from a physics standpoint.. the ease of which you were able to pull him out may indicate that he was barely stuck, rather than the truck had so much torque that pulling him out was that easy.

SUPERDUTYS defy laws of physics ! Haven’t you herd

Question for you. How soft is the sand out there at Pismo? Soft in places isn't it? More packed in others?
What are you airing down to? I have a trip coming up here at the end of the month on the east coast (OBX) and in the past with my Jeep and Toyotas I have aired down to about 18psi and those do awesome on and in the sand at that number. Not going to be pulling anything, just the truck.

Exactly this. Regardless of engine, the Super Duty simply doesn't have the weight or available traction to pull out a 10-wheeler that is well-stuck. He just needed a little tug to get him moving, no different than when a Raptor pulls out an 18-wheeler on Ice Road Truckers.
I'm a big fan of the 6.7L's torque, but in this case that had nothing to do with getting that dump truck moving again.

Every time I have completey sunk a Single axle it has required the back bucket on a large backhoe to get me out. When a 10k lb 4wd tractor can't get you out you know you are stuck.
All being said guys, when you have the type of torque these things make, drop it down into 4 low, with judicious use of the throttle to keep the wheels from breaking loose they can do some things that would amaze us. It's just a matter of all the stars aligning just right. What the heck a Tundra can pull the space shuttle......So therefore a Super Duty can rotate the earth.

I have aired down to 25 on my stock wranglers A/T and it does fine. At pismo going up to your spot you can drive on the wet hard packed sand then when you find your landing zone you are driving on pretty soft stuff. Have to keep up momentum, And then your also getting out when you leave hauling your trailer from a dead start on the soft sand don’t spin your tires make sure you deflate your trailer tires if it’s heavy.
