There was a past user by the name of 6.9 turbo idi. He had a truck with a Saginaw box mounted on top of the frame with the pitman shaft oriented horizontally. I am interested in his power steering setup. I would like to replicate it on my highboy. I would appreciate any information on this setup. Thank you
Did you do a search of his posts? Or try to contact him? Sorry I just noticed that this is your first post, Welcome to the FTE Forum. I found (through the advanced search) that there is a 6.9 turbo member. But I couldn't find his post. Just hang in Ford 427, someone will find him.
I appreciate the reply. Yes I have read the sticks. The 78-79 box is rare and when you can find them they are expensive. I don't really care for the 2wd box method. I'm sorry about the name I gave you he was called 1967 turbo 6.9. unfortunately he has not been active in some time. His steering setup was unique. I was hoping other people had some more information on it. How do I pm a member on the forum? I would like to get in touch with me fordworth also. Thanks
Many years ago I had a high school kid working with me at a gas station. He had engineered a 2wd Saginaw box onto a 68 highboy. It was mounted ahead of the axle and was dead simple. I don't remember all the details but this 17 year old figured it out and installed it himself. It worked great. The truck was a purpose built mudder and he was running 36s on it. I do remember he rotated the pitman arm 90 degrees
Thanks for replying. I have a couple of ideas floating around involving the Saginaw box. One is the idea about mounting on top of the frame like 1967 6.9 turbo has. The other idea involves the 70's Dodge style like Fordworth implemented on his truck witch by the way I would love to find his thread on that setup. I have another idea witch involves a f150 integral box with a reverse rotation kit. So I can still run the push pull steering. I'm going for a restomod theme I guess it's called. I want to keep the stock drive train, besides a hotter 390 power plant. Thanks for the ideas.
I think that after you have made 5 posts you get full posting privilages. You can post pictures of your truck and also PM other members. You can find a complete listing of the members at the top of the page under " Community ".
