I have a question about the tip of the speedometer cable and NOT the end that goes into the transfer case with the replaceable gear that changes the gage calibration.
I have a 1983 Bronco that came originally with a C6, 4x4 and cruise control. I've swapped in a ZF5 and kept the original NP208 transfer case. My original cable is frayed and needed to be replaced and was a few inches too short (the ZF5 is longer than the C6). I selected a cable from Rockauto that was appropriate for an auto trans with cruise but was slightly longer than my original cable. The cable was also listed as a suitable cable for a manual transmission. As you can see by the pictures the new cable doesn't have the plastic tip on it and I'm wondering if that will prevent it from working properly. Can anyone share what they may know about the tip and if I need it?
Do you have the pictures mixed up?
I ask because I can't see how the cable with the round plastic part would work?
New cable with the plastic would protect it in shipping.
