Does anyone have a fix for the bend in the speedo cable at the transmission? I now broke the second, albeit used, cable. It seems that the bend in the cable where it screws into the transmission becomes 90 degrees when the transmission cover is installed. I just ordered a new reproduction cable that appears to have a more pliable sheathing than the original metal encasing.
How long is the cable you're using? The original was replaced in 1957 by B7C-17260-A which is 69.20" long. There are 6 of these B7C cables available NOS
Yes, it would, but I can't locate any with ease. There's a local speedo shop that can make the adapter, but they need to know the specifics and will cost around $200. Unless I can find an adapter cheap, I don't mind spending $20 a pop for the cable.
GM used a 90degree adapter for years throughout the 80's. I mainly saw them on trucks but some of the cars might have had them as well. I think that they were mainly gear reducers but they might have had some that were straight through. Who knows, you might be able to adapt or modify one
