History0 F350, 7.3. Bought as project truck. Was horribly maintained by previous owner. Had fuel leaks everywhere, replaced return line injector o-rings, fixed filter housing, using one piece fuel filter. New lift pump. Not a drop of fuel now. Problem, I’m having is seems like pump is losing its prime. Once started it runs good until next morning, it is extremely hard to start. I was thinking, its sucking in air between tank and pump so I temporarily run one fuel line hose directly from one tank to the pump. It runs good, but next day I’m back to hard starting. BTW, it has a new starter, two very good batteries, it does turn over fast during starting. Do you think I have a problem with my injector pump? I’m starting to pizzed off at this thing. Any help would be appreciated.
I deleted my mechanical lift pump and blocked it with a 454 chevy plate.
my cheapo electric lift pump is directly after the fuel tank switch and I've had no more siphoning problems. More power too.
Mine is all stock, so I would think a stock pump setup should work. Maybe my mechanical pump is crappy. It is new but it doesn't mean it working correctly. Are you saying an electric pump less prone to siphoning air problems than a mechanical pump or do you mean an electric pump could make an otherwise weak injector pump work correctly? Thanks
If you're pushing fuel up the line there's no way you're sucking air unless there's a problem close to or inside the tanks.
In tank pumps would be ideal but I'm not dropping that kind of cabbage to fix a problem I don't have
