Fuel Issues

Okay so I have a 77 F150 351m C6 4X4 rebuilt about 3 year ago. I have a Edelbrock 1406 w/electric choke (which I hate), new filter, new mechanical pump. Once it is running it is perfect, the issue is on start up after it sits. It will not start and if you hit the gas it instantly floods, also after you drive and shut it off it will restart within 5 min, anything longer than that and you are back to it not starting. I am a little confused by this, I thought maybe it is boiling out after I run it, but it does it even after it has not been run. Anyone have this issue before?

Sounds like a float issue. Verify they are set correctly.
And, pull a plug or two. What do they tell you?

The choke might be the problem. Make sure its open all the way when hot.

So, I changed the battery because after a long time of long cranking, the inevitable happen. Would no longer hold a charge and it met its maker. I put a Interstate battery in about a week ago, all of a sudden I have no more issues? That seems like a strange fix for the issue I had. I know the old battery was cranking kinda slow but it would crank and start, but when it sat after being driven it wouldn't like to start? Don't sound like a battery issue but for about a week now the issue seems to have gone away.....

It could have been an ignition issue. Starters draw lots of current, hundreds of amps, during cranking. If the battery was defective, the spark intensity during cranking could be attenuated or choked off to the point where hard starting became an issue.
