Bad Fuel Pump

I have a 1977 Ford 150 4x4 351modified C-6 trans

I have a 2 bbl carb

Every time i turn my truck on for the first time of the day(ranch chores, lot of off and on)I have to stay on the throttle for a good 5 minutes or else it will turn off.I dont use the choke thouh(inoperative),but its texas so that shouldn't be the problem.I have no leaks in the fuel line.I just replased all the hoses and fuel filter since they were old,but the problem has gotten a little better but did not go away completely.i also checked the carbeator for leaks. So is it the fuel pump or is it the choke.

It's the lack of choke and fast idel circuit ...which also works in conjunction with the choke .

You have to have a choke coil that is good and set to the proper spec to operate properly.

BTW Please just Use 351M.
The jury is still out on what the M stands for.

If you just use M there won't be any fights over it
