Drive to a flat, straight stretch of road and fidget with the adjusting screws until the road is evenly lit up.

Find a wall by a flat level area where you can back up 25' from the wall. Pull right up to the wall (almost touching), make a few measurements and place marks (an 'X' or a "+" from painters tape works well) on the wall directly in front of your lights. Center of the X is the center of the light. This represents the center of the "Hot Spot" of the beam. Now back up 25' from the wall. The "Hot Spots" should be two inches down and two inches to the right of your X marks. If not, adjust the beams until they are right. That's how I was taught and how I taught it at a Auto Tech school.

That sounds like a whole lot better way to do than my way. Lol. I need to try that.

The best lighting information I have ever seen comes from Daniel Stern. This is his website where he details how to aim.
