Im new here and this has likely been asked a million times but i am looking at getting a new f150 and heard you need to remove the cab to do simple things like the spark plugs. Is this actually true?
Untrue. Super Duties up until 2016 required that the cab be removed to work on the Powerstroke since it was packed in so tight. Don't know if that's still true for New Super Duties. The F150 never required the cab to be removed.

No, it`s not true and i`ve never seen that question asked about the current F150.
Go to a dealer and look under the hood and you`ll have your answer.
I would imagine that it depends on what you need to do. Just about for any basic maintenance can be performed without having to take drastic extraction measures ie Cab removal on either F150's or Superduties. But personally, I myself would not want to attempt to perform a complete engine rebuild on a 3.5 Ecoboost without removing the cab. It would be way more difficult and time consuming to attempt that.
Just out of curiosity, I checked the shop manual for the 2017 F150. There are 59 numbered steps to remove the 3.5EB engine that start with either the word "remove" or "disconnect". However the largest item that has to be removed is the hood. The entire engine / trans can be removed without touching the cab mounting bolts.
