I have a new 08 job 2 on order which has a ETA of Sept 24. This business of having to remove the cab for motor work has me concerned. Does anyone know what repair work requires the cab removal? Did the previous trucks require the cab to be removed for the same type of repairwork? I wonder if the other two big one's, Dodge and GM have the same situation? Then again, if major work is covered by warrenty, just put the concern asside. Any thoughts... tgene
Any problems with the turbos, fuel pump or anything major that is at the back of the motor, that the dealer techs can't get at would cuase the cab to be removed. The previous trucks didn't need to remove the cab. I think the other companies don't need to remove the cab to do major engine work. I ordered my truck 2 weeks ago. When did you order yours?
The cab was engineered to be removed and replaced easily just for this purpose. It's not an uncommon practice in the auto world. Beats the heck out of having a tech lean over your new fender for hours.
Alot of the major work done on the 6.0 is cab off as the techs find it works so well. It was because of the cab off work done on the 6.0 that the truck was re-engineered to make the cab removal easier on the 08 model. On the 03-07 trucks the bolts are accessed from inside the cab meaning the carpet etc. had to be pulled back. On the new trucks the bolts are from the bottom up saving alot of time. If one of the techs sees this tread they may chime in with more detail.
