Getting the headliner free was easy, but I can't figure out how to get it out through the door! Is there a trick I'm unaware of? The seats, the steering wheel and the shifter are all potentially in the way.
When I took my headliner out of my super cab I had the passenger seat pushed all the way to the rear and the seat back leaned back as far as it would go. I think I had the transmission in reverse (5 sp manual) I wiggled, turned the headliner so the front was kind of coming out first. One edge will be on the floor by the door and the other up as high as the door frame will allow. I have to carefully bend the sides of the headliner as I extracted it from the cab. It was a VERY tight squeeze. My cardboard was quite brittle so I broke one corner of the headliner. However, once I put it back inside the cab but before I reinstalled it I used red Tuck Tape to reshape it. It seemed to do the trick.
I thought I tried that... Slid the seat back and leaned it all the way back. I tried 5th gear and reverse, above and below the shifter... It was fairly cold yesterday with wind over 30 mph, so maybe I didn't have the patience. I'll try again and report back.
Well maybe it was the cold,and wind, or maybe I was just having a blond moment, but I was able to get it out today. I had the back seat folded down which prevented the front seat from leaning back all of the way. It does need to be "taco'd" quite a bit before it will come out.
While it was out I used up some old dynamat I had lying around.
