Exclamation Value cover troubles

2007 expedition with a 5.4 I had to change out the vct and had to pull the value cover off to do it. 2006 and back dont have to (ford engineers uugghhh). anyways got it changed and all put back together and took for a test drive. It is running alot better.
The problem come in when I go to check and make sure there are no leaks, sure enough there is one. So I check all the bolts for the cover and the one on the bottom next to the fire wall right above the header will not tighten down. Pull it back and to look at it and it has metal shavings on it. The hole in the head is stripped out. was going to use a helicoil to fix nut there is hardly enough room to put a socket in there let alone try and drill and tap it for the helicoil. What can I do to fix it. here is a pic of the problem looking up from pass side wheel well. It is a M6 bolt that holds it down, was thinking about trying to get a self tapping M7 bolt and put it in there?

Oh man I feel for you. There’s no magic answer or suggestions that’ll surprise you. You just have to get comfortable on top of the engine and put on one of those head strap flashlights and just do it the hard way.
Disassemble or move stuff out of the way..

maybe possibly you you could take it apart again, clean it up, and then reassemble with just the right type of gasket compound back in that corner. And then leave the bolt missing.

Since you don't have much to lose, I would flush out with carb cleaner and epoxy a stud there. Let harden a few days and then carefully snug it up. A self tapper might work as well.

Would you have more room to work if you pull the valve cover off, or were assuming that would have to be done? Hard to tell from your post. Just thinking...

I got it all taken care of, I ended up using a self threading screw from Fastnal. It ran right it there and tightened up just fine.

Now the only down side it is still throwing the same code. !@@#$$$%%%%^ I changed out the vct and the cam position sensor, which that was what the code was saying that was the problem.
