Who hoo!!! I’m no longer on reserve snow plow duty! They have been screening vehicles for chains going North and chain control is in effect headed everywhere but South right now!

Happy March FTE Family!

Right this very moment, they is no snow. The weather guy this morning said precip on and off all day today, and the snow level may go as low as 1500 feet. More likely no lower than 2000 feet. We live at 2400, so I'm guessing we is gonna see some of the white stuff today.

No snow here, but it is currently raining, and expected to rain all day today and tomorrow. Still, better to have that then snow.

About 15 minutes after I wrote my previous post, the white stuff started coming down. Right now it's alternating between sleet, snow, and hail. Not quite cold enough (33 degrees) to stick yet, but if the frozen stuff keeps landing, it's only a matter of time.

That can looks familiar. I might have some already. In any case, I will not order anything from Walmart again. I ordered some socks and had them sent to the neighborhood Walmart market, which has been no big deal in the past. However, I went there Wednesday to pick them up after receiving an email from them, and they refused to give me my socks because the order was under Jim Thomas, and all my ID cards say James Thomas. That is redunkulous. The manager was right there, and the CSR conferred with her, and she said no. I have never had an issue picking up items at Walmart before, nor have I had any issues with this one in the past. Since I loaned my car to my adopted daughter to use, I am in my wheelchair, and only go to this market because it is half a mile from my apt. However, I will just buy groceries there in the future, and make all my other purchases from Amazon.com now. What a joke. If the local Winco was closer, I would go there, or Costco. I ended up getting the socks from Amazon, and because I am a Prime member, they arrived today for free. Just had to go to the mail box instead of half a mile to the local Walmart grocery store.

I had something similar happen to me at the local B of A. Someone wrote me a check and used "Bill" for my first name. Problem is my CDL and most everything else I have says "William". Clerk was considering not depositing the check, except I know she recognized me, and I've deposited many, many checks over the years (at least 30 years). I eventually found a tower climbing certificate that listed me as "Bill", and she relented. Kind of frustrating in any case.

Makes no sense to me. Especially considering I have picked up items there before under the same name.

Good to hear that you are back on your feet. Nothing worse than Enforced idleness.

I gave up on Justin boots back in college when I was going through a pair every 4-6 months. Now I've got a couple pair of Whites/Nicks that are still going strong and extremely comfortable.

I-5 was closed until early this morning to clear out the Id10t drivers and get it plowed. The snow is still collecting up here.

It's a pair of socks....socks! What do they think, you somehow magically became aware of a sock order made on the internet by a man whose name is close to yours, for delivery at the Walmart a half a mile away from where you live, and you're there trying to abscond with them before the "real" Mr. Thomas comes along to claim them??

Oh my word, what the hell are they teaching their sales associates and store managers? Do they require a basic intelligence test before hiring someone?

I was so tempted to tell her it is not like I ordered an AR-15, it is a bag of socks! However, I chose not to make an even bigger scene than I already had. I still have to go there for groceries, and today I went also to get a money order for the rent. Well, their computers are down, so no money order. I will just have to go back on Monday. Of course, our manager takes Sunday and Monday off, so the rent will be on Tuesday as there is no drop box (they want everyone to have a receipt). Not the end of the world.

In other news, a beautiful day here after the rains and before everyone goes to work to add more smog.

I'm reminded of the time I found a good deal on some St. George Absinthe.
I set the two bottles on the counter... the only thing I wanted to buy... about $90 before tax.
The checker looked at me and asked me for my ID. I haven't been asked for an ID to buy alcohol in probably 30 years.
I said "You're joking!"
She said "Do you want to buy this or not?"
I said "No, I just came in here to harass the staff into unlocking the liquor cabinet for me... OF COURSE I WANT TO BUY IT, WHY ELSE WOULD I PUT THESE ON THE COUNTER?"
The musty old crone actually made me show my ID... must have been on some kind of a power trip. Maybe all white guys look alike to her. Hard to call.
I don't shop there any more.
