Paint question.
Personally, if they made that big of a mess, I'd go elsewhere.
I've decide to not go back to the dealer. They had their chance, twice even and it's worse than when I dropped the truck off. A friend of a friend who is going to do body work and paint on my 87 GMC Sierra looked at it today and said they did a horrible job and it can be easily fixed. When I mentioned the dealer body shop, he wasn't surprised and said they are horrible there. They will most likely just blend the bottom portion of both doors and it still will not match the fender or upper section of the door and not be right. To do it correctly, he would pull the trim off of both doors and paint the entire front and rear door and then blend into the fender. That's the correct way of doing it and will look like it should. They guarantee their work in writing and this shop has a local reputation for being excellent. He knows the people who run and work at the Ford dealer body shop and they have a lot of issues which would explain why the truck isn't getting fixed. I also called the Ford complaint number and even the person I talked to said that this dealer has had many complaints over the years for body shop and service center issues. I have to pay out of pocket to have the local body shop repair the truck but don't mind paying for it as long as it's done correctly and back to factory. It does suck that I have to pay for someone else's mistakes, especially when it's suppose to be a Ford certified repair center. You would think that trusting your truck to it's manufacturer service center would be better than this, I guess that's not always the case. I've worked really hard to buy this expensive truck and haven't had a nice vehicle in 15 years but apparently that doesn't matter to a lot of people at the dealer.
