Mess of they identical to the pics on summits site, but they all say passenger car no truck. Are the 2wd trucks the same front sump pan as the cars? I would think so, but I could be wrong.
Please ebugacate me. What make the passenger car front sump different than the truck pan on an FE? I get capacity, it it all from the sump? Not objecting to adding to the front if needed, just thought this was a plug and play, not a friggin National treasure hunt.
milo-don part number 31130 7qt oil pan for 390s planning on putting it on mine
Front sump is where the oil pickup tube is in the front so the bulge in the pan is on the front under the crank
Rear sump is where the oil pick up is in the rear so the bulge in the pan is near the flywheel
AirB I get the pump location dictates which pan I can use, but I really dont want to spend the $ on the Milodon when it's possible I will be selling the truck. Seems funny that you can buy a $50 replacement 460 pan but a 390 front sump( except for 2wd trucks) gets to me. I should have yanked this pg out and built a stroked 351w, parts are cheap. I am guessing all the front sump passenger car pans for under $60 are worthless then for our application.
It was in ND's answer, cars hole 5 quarts, pickups six. Now depending on where the dipstick goes, the car one would probably work, if you got the right pickup for it
Looking at the Milodons, it looks as if a stock pan was taken then additional taller sump is added. I already got the truck specific pump in anticipation, wasn't counting it being this hard. I may just order one and modify if necessary. Not a fan of the hacked Milodon look.
The difference between car and truck other than 1 quart capacity is the drain plug location the truck pan is dead center at the back of the sump cars are on the right side you can use a car pan it's just a pain draining the oil but can be done i've used them many times.
