Or I could just add to the sump and install a new drain up front instead. Just thpought I could get a nice new one with the motor getting dolled up. Maybe I will added more area to the sump grind it nicely and Have it chromed or cadmium plated

Did you notice any adverse effects by using the smaller sumped pan?

None back in the day i would tap the head for a orifice to restrict the oil going to the rocker shaft and install a windage tray and if i had it i would use a anti-dive baffle in the pan but it was not necessary.I could twist it 5k all day long.

TS is that an old school trick? so you are saying oil restriction to the rocker shaft? Is that not adverse to the rockers and assembly(just asking )? Is this a common mod then?

I have a 2wd F250 390/C-6. It has a front sump 2wd truck) am assuming as it is not off yet and the new one has not arrived to compare them. Mine is in fine shape, but since I am redoing the motor I am also getting pretty much everything new or rebuilt and am stepping up a notch on most things. Thought I would just get another new paw, especially since they were cheap and available in zinc or chrome. Or so I thought, till I start finding out that a new truck pan is harder to find and more expensive, than just having my old one refinished(I still may do this if I am not satisfied with the new one. I have not pulled the motor yet, although it just needs to be massaged from the trans. I did not have an extra stand to use. So I picked up a HD used one today for a C Note. I am think with the cost of a new pan if available, as my pan is probably peppered under the last spray bomb. I may have it T'ed like a Cobra pan except with the measurement taken today and the below pics it would either have to be no more than 9" across the front and no more than an extra.5" lower at the bottom (or it will hit the crossmember) , It could be 12" across but the T would have to be offset to the drivers side by a up to 3".

Just checking to see if there was any recommendation on this. Im also looking for a 390 front sump oil pan and not finding anything that looks like it would be a direct replacement.
