were planning on getting a f-350 to pull a tt/5er and have a couple questions with the payloads pertaining to gvw packages.
looking at the brochure, if we are doing a lariat with 6.7 crew cab 4x4 fx4 20’s and fairly loaded up with ultimate lariat package and the usual bells and whistles for a build like this. Am I reading that either the 11,300 gvw - 4400 max payload or 10,900 - 4000 max payload will likely be what we likely want to order or look for?
trying to get the most out of the payload while keeping our combination below 26k.
I suggest looking at the yellow payload sticker on some trucks that are equipped similar to what you want. The brochures do not account for the added weight of up optioned trucks and I believe you will find that the truck you describe with a 11,500 lb GVWR will have a payload rating well under 4,000 lb.

Absolutely. Closer to 3,000#, maybe a little under that with a Lariat Ultimate. My 2017 XLT Premium, LB, CC, 4x4 has a cargo capacity of 3283. A Lariat Ultimate will be less.
I've got a '17 F350 CCLB 6.7 SRW King Ranch 4x4. It's got ultimate package. No chrome package and no Fx4, but I don't think those add much weight. My payload sticker is 3135. Like it's already been said above, optioning these trucks out adds a lot of weight. I'm getting a smallish 5th wheel and plan to use Andersen hitch, which is less than 50 pounds. Just me camping, so I'm ok with SRW. But it's easy to get into dually territory quickly with some of the fifth wheels out there. Good luck!
Haven’t found too many 350’s configured properly in my area. 250’s yes but don’t think that even an option.
the dealer not understanding payload numbers doesn’t help much either, I basically have to find what I want on a lot or come to the table to order exactly what I need because I don’t trust them to figure this out.
i get the usual canned answer but this will tow 20k.
let me expand my question a bit.
if the 350 srw has a 10k gvw or 11500 gvw which can also be 11400, why does the brochure/trailering guide show a gvw of 10900 with the highest payload of any other configuration if that is t an orderable option? I believe the 350 with 4x4 and 6.7 with 160”wb crew cab list max payload is 4440. After options likely 36-3700.
if I go with 11400 pkg I think max payload is a tad over 4K and payload likely 3200-3400.
That 4400 lb payload is likely with the 6.2L gas engine. Note that the max payload numbers given in the Ford specs (copy attached) are for a base truck with essentially no options. Increasing the trim level and adding option packages can really eat into the max payload number.

ford certainly doesn’t make this easy
my local dealer had a truck with this 10900 gvw although with an 8 Ft bed which I don’t want and further reduces payload. It still showed 4100 max payload, not sure what the yellow sticker showed.
My 2017 F-350 CCLB Lariat Ultimate 4x4 6.7L has a cargo capacity of a bit over 3100 lbs.
The de-rated GVWR should be reducing the cargo capacity. A 8,000 lbs truck can't have a 4,000 lbs cargo capacity if the GVWR is only 10,000 lbs. The de-rate is a paper change only. Nothing on the truck is physically different.
Ford doesn't make this easy and the dealers often don't have a clue. It's sad. Often there is ONE guy in the entire dealership that understand what the weight ratings mean.

what am I missing here?
Just FYI, I have the truck you originally described: 350 6.7 CCSB FX4 20" Lariat ultimate with most bells and whistles. My payload capacity is 3332 lbs.
GVW 11500.
I should have mentioned I will be going with the short bed.
3640Lb payload on our truck in Sig - we are at 6800lbs on the rear axle with empty gray tanks, and about 11700lbs GVW - so ~200lbs over. Thats with about 500lbs of Human/Dog in the truck.
24700 GCW.

Sounds right. 300lbs of additional luxury on the Lariat.
