covering door panels
Has anyone tried to cover the 73-79 door panels with vinyl? I plan to make inserts where they can fit into the panel, but was wondering if anyone had done the whole panel. To me the plastic is kind of cheezy. Thought about doing the inserts in 1 colour and covering the rest in something else but I'm not sure I can stretch the vinyl in some areas.

It has been done. You can make an upper panel and a lower panel to cover the grill section. Tread plate them both.
Take the arm rest off and paint it. Finger cup different color. Different overlay material between the 2 areas.

Thanks for the reply! Is the one with checker plate completely covered with vinyl? Thats kind of what I had in mind, but with padded sections around the arm rest and over the bottom grill, maybe in a different shade.

The checker plate it just that, actual metal (aluminium) tread plate. The blue door with the cammo is a home done recover.
