Stewart is correct. "Keywords for later search" included terms related to your topic that did not get said in any of the earlier responses...terms like OTW, oil to water, pipe assembly (Ford parts term for the trans cooling line), etc.
The problem with this thread is that the thread title "Rusted connector... which one?" provides no clue whatsoever about the value of the information developed inside the thread, nor any clue about which subsystem on the truck the information is related to. I passed this thread up many times because I thought "Rusted connector" related to some electrical connector that had corrosion inside pins and terminals, and I didn't feel like figuring out what electrical connector the OP had, because that would take more time than I had. Finally, I had some time, so I clicked the link, and lo and behold, it is entirely unrelated to electrical.
Yet it is a valuable thread, because a "corroded oil to water transmission cooler fitting" (suggested thread title change) can be expected to happen to more and more of us, as these trucks age. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I wanted to spray this fire hydrant with a few keywords so that I could find this thread years from now in a search.
BTW, my model year 2000, built on the last day of November 1999, did not have an oil to water transmission cooler installed. In 2001, I picked up an entire new radiator from Ford that had the oil to water cooler, along with two new transmission cooling pipe assemblies, and replaced my original radiator and transmission cooling lines with the new parts.
Water is a far more efficient medium to transfer heat than air. I had already instrumented the transmission with a (Banks) gauge, and borrowed the dealership's NGS scan tool to verify the response of the gauge's sending unit with the internal sensor from Ford. On my test circuit drive in the local hills under the same ambient conditions, I noticed an immediate difference before and after the addition of the oil to water cooler.

Your Tech Folder organization, respectful low key moderation, and topic title tuning all coordinate quite well together in cultivating the kind of content on FTE that attracts new members by producing fruitful search results. Over the last decade, FTE has grown to dominate all other similar subject matter forums in both posts and viewership... under your stewardship. Or should I say "Stewartship"?
