I have a question about the factory prep package. I have a 17 short bed 4x4 6.2 it did not come with the prep installed. I want to install one called my local dealer to order and found out they are back ordered with no availability date. they gave me a part # HC3Z-5F057-B so I could try to find somewhere else which I could not. Found one on ebay with a part #HC3Z-5F057-A I think that one is for a DWW from what I see what is the difference and would the HC3Z-5F057-A work on a SWW they look the same to me. any Idea I am sure someone on here knows
If I remember correctly the difference in part number is if one set of brackets are already wielded to the frame or not. See the photo below of the install guide.
Here are two links that go into detail on getting the factory 5th wheel prep package and installing it. Mine is a DRW but I think the info will be helpful regardless of model super duty.
Reese does not sell the Ford hitch prep package. Reese sells their own under-bed hitch package, which is very different.
That is incorrect. Reese is who makes the prep package for Ford. The Ford prep and Ford hitch are rebranded Reese Elite. Same product, different sticker.
Makes sense. Otherwise, Reese would have a different hitch to fit a different prep. And no one would want it if you couldn't have a choice of hitches. Contacting Reese is a good idea.
Compare this to the earlier post showing the Ford kit. Similar, but not the same. The Ford crossmember is all one piece including the receiver pucks. The Reese kit is bolt together, and you have to buy the gooseneck plate separately.
I'm not even sure Reese actually builds the Ford kit. They definitely do not sell it.

That is one of many kits Reese makes, albeit the one without the GN prep. They also make one with the GN hole which is the one Ford uses.
While I was on the Reese web site I looked for the Elite underbed rail kit for the '17. They don't have one listed. They have one for the '16, but not anything newer.
That's the Reese kit with the gooseneck plate, yes. But it is bolt on. It is the same kit in my earlier post, it just comes with the plate but it is still bolt together. It is not the one Ford sells under their brand.
Right, the one Ford sells is one Reese makes specifically as an OE supplied product. Same product but all one piece due to no shipping constraints and installation before the bed is mounted. Both made by Reese and both install the same way more or less. So technically, you're right. They aren't exactly the same but close enough for government work. The hitch itself, on the other hand, is identical but for the sticker...
If I was doing it, as long as the Reese kit met my weight qualifications, I'd go with it. As I understand it, the Ford kit sold separately is quite a bit more money than if it was installed at the factory, quite a bit more than Reese is asking for theirs.
Reese has been doing this hitch stuff for a lot longer than Ford has with their underbed kit and as long as they say theirs would do what I'm looking for, I'd go for it. I'd just give them a call or shoot them an email asking about what fits the 2017, they usually get back with you pretty quick.
