Howdy, I bought my excursion with the rear air deleted. They had bypassed the rear ac lines under the hood. I've wanted to get new lines and get the rear ac working for some time now.
I've seen splice kits but in my situation I'm not sure this is a good fix since the old lines have been open to the environment 5+ years. I found a rubber line set at hot rod guy.com. 325$ for the two rear ac lines. If I go that route what else would I need to do or replace before I could get the system recharged?
Thanks for the reply Nicmike. If I reuse the old lines I'll need to have fittings brazen on to the lines where they cut them. Between that and fixing the leak will I still be ahead?
I read that there are some filters to replace also before the system is recharged ..any idea where those are?
Thanks again, my kids will really benefit from this.
The replacement lines from Ford come in two pieces with fittings added at the mid-point, so you having fittings put on is not a big deal. They just need to be clean inside before you recharge. The only filter I can think of is the orifice tube. It is a strainer-type filter. I would also replace every single o-ring in the system if I were you, and I would flush each line individually before re-installing.
I have access to a complete set of lines (and the rest of the whole system) here in the Austin, TX area. I will be heading to west-central Arkansas in a couple of weeks. I am taking a trailer up there, so I could haul them that far for you if you like.
