Is there an actual sno fighter package decoding? My 1978 has limited slip rear diff, big alternator, 410 gears, dana 60 front/ rear, so that is the lions share of the options, hi output heater!! It might have had dual batteries at one time.
I special ordered a 76 with the northland special package that had bigger alternator, high out put heater, block heaters and limited slip. So that package might have been included.
I'm not so sure about VIN decoding per se, but I know the BOM on the front axle tube is a dead giveaway for "SnoFighter" package. I think it begins with a 601xx-x or something like that....But it's also for a D60 front (different than the rear) and might not have much to do with decoding this package.
Actually from what paperwork I've accumulated over the years regarding this "package" is that these vehicles so equipped had the F350 suspension package as well as the D60 high pinion front axle.
Offhand, I can't find my paperwork confirming this, but from memory (haha) I think it's pretty close. Hi-output heaters were on HiBoys (from recollection) and weren't necessarily part of the "package."
Mr Bill will probably swing by with better details/confirmation/or abstracts of the SnoFighter moniker.
My dads 78 F250 has the high output heater in it, standard alt, dual batteries, D60 front but no clearance lights.
My 79 F250 has standard heater, large alt, 1 battery, D60 front and has clearance lights.
One of us should have a SnoFighter and I believe it's mine. I thought clearance lights had to be part of the equation for them to be.
yeah, dual batteries and clearance lights were the package, mine also has a block heater. I really don't know, and the sticker from the door jamb is missing, but thesno fighter package was always referred to on here as (front to rear) dual batteries, HO alternator, d60 front, clearance lights, limited slip rear.
Well, I don't know. The wiring is somewhat modified, it has a cluster from an earlier unit, speedo is 100 mph and it is a dummylight cluster, but not oem, has sway bars, has big alt. not sure on clearance lights, have been definetely repainted, drivers door is aftermarket replacement, clearance lights might have been removed. Cool info. Thanks for the post.
I have owned 3, 79trucks with the dana 60 front I would think anything with that axel could be considered a sno fighter. Is the sno fighter offered with a dana 44?
