Help Remembering: Dash-top Tray Insert for Electronics
Last spring I saw a picture in one of the threads of an insert that fit into the dash-top tray just perfectly, it was for holding electronics like GPS units. I've searched for a day but can't find the right thread. It would be similar to a bean bag type mount but sits low in the tray making it easy to see over. Can anyone point me to that thread or know of anything like it? Need it for a 2017 F350 Lariat and I want to be able to use it to hold either GPS or TPMS displays for towing a 5th wheel trailer.
TIA
Not the one I was thinking of but certainly a possibility for me to check on. FYI, I see they have a 3rd generation of it that eliminates some melting issues.
When I had the same thoughts on my 2011 & 2016 F150, I took the rubber mat off, removed the top center panel. I drilled a 3/4 inch hole to run power wires up and mounted a RAM ball with nuts & bolts. Had some rubber like shelf material that I cut a slit in for the wires so it looked good. When I traded for a 2017 F250, remove everything, covered the holes in the trim panel and put the original tray back in. Ran three power cables for GPS, camera, scanner and wires for my ham radio. This idea I got from what others had done.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Added these pictures. The radio head and camara mount are on a proclip mount.

Like the pictures, still worth a thousand words. More work than I was originally thinking of but I like how the wires are routed and not laying or hanging on the dash. I'm thinking this is the route I will go for a cleaner look, thanks for sharing.
