Jumping ship!

Did I trick you!?

Gmc driver here and I’m thinking about trading my denali 6.2 crewcab for a 2017 f250 lariat.

I say thinking about it because the deal was made and today I got a call from my salesmen telling me that the wash guys found that the sunroof had leaked and water was dripping through the fancy switch’s located in the overhead console.

While i love the truck and all the tech ( more tech then my denali ) and going from a 6.2 to a 6.7 diesel is exciting, I don’t know if I want to own a 55k fish tank. Truck was bought and put in service in December of 2016 and has 30k miles recently traded for a older gmc duramax. I’ve spoke with the previous owner and he told me it had never leaked ( but he also said he never used it ).

with the factory bumper to bumper warranty close to being used up, I’d like to know insight from you that own the trucks with the dual glass.

Take my chance or wait for for the next one ?

Thank you

Hard to say, having not seen it. For all you know, the lot boy used a pressure washer when washing it and blasted direct pressure at the seal (most any roofs would see water leaks in this case). As long as they'll make the repairs and prove the leak is "fixed", I would say go for it. Further safety net would be adding writing in the deal to cover any possible collateral damage for XXX amount of time due to moonroof water leaks.

Its a common problem, if its the same thing, it has to do with misrouted drain tubes. They should be able to easily fix it for good. Great looking truck.

I’ve read several posts on random sites about it also. Just worried about electrical issues later down the line

Mine has never leaked and I pressure wash my truck every wash. We've even had some straight down pours and a bunch of snow piled on it and never a leak. I think the problems are hit and miss from what i've read. But I agree water in the electrical or headliner may be a nagging problem down the road.

I would doubt the wash bay guy had committed any wrongdoing.

It should be an easy fix, but I'd still be a little worried about water damage that cannot be seen.

Go online Troy Ford ect. and buy a FORD ESP 3y-36K or something like that bet its around (1k) cheap if something goes wrong. They are relatively inexpensive and will cover any problems. Run an oasis report if it checks out good and you like the deal then buy the crap out of it looks great

In 2017 the sunroof was standard if truck had Lariat Ultimate Pkg.
In 2018 it is not tied to the Lariat Ultimate, however most dealer stock (XLT and above trucks are ordered WITH the sunroof.
I looked for an 18 CCLB Lariat Ultimate (no matter color) from San Francisco to west Texas with NO LUCK. I had to order one..

I was looking at a 2017 platinum with 35,900 miles, ran the oasis report and the moonroof rails had been replaced due to being stuck.

I passed on that truck after reading the stories on this forum.
