I just got some LED bulbs for the truck and yes they appear to be brighter but have not been able to use. The retainers will not fit over the electrical wires, so wondering what if anything folks have done to change bulbs. Contemplating cutting the retainer to allow the wire to get past it and then epoxy back at the cut. Went to junk yard and got a couple of narrow retainers and those are the ones I would cut.
I have converted to HID headlights which is a little different then LED ( I am guessing yours are plug and play?) . Mine was more involved but the actual bulbs were longer so I ordered extended bulb retainers off of ebay to make room for all the extra wires. I can post a picture when I get home from work.
I have the same connector as in your picture, the wires come out of the light at a 90deg angle thus will not fit thru the retainer plug. I am not one who can do pics sorry. I got the locking lugs from a f150 and also off an explorer they are approx 1/2 inch wide that is why I am thinking of cutting to get wires thru then epoxy them back together at the cut. Yes it is a plug and play set up and its a 94.
Alrighty then. So yeah on the top of the plastic piece cut or drill a little notch to fit the extra wires. I would reccomend really making sure you do epoxy it or or put some sort of water proofing around the wire as you don’t want your headlight retainer letting water deep into your headlight housing. Wish there was a better way but I believe that’s it! Good luck, also posting pictures is not hard if you just make an account with an image hosting website such as imgur.
