Advice on 1991 F150 non tilt steering wheel loose

Hey guys. Over the past year my steering wheel is getting worse. It's a non tilt column but the wheel itself is wobbling left to right, as well as up and down.

Found a lot of info on newer stuff and tilt columnes but not necessarily on the 87-91 non tilt columns.

Can I fix this at home? I'd rather not replace the column with something out of the JY and run into this issue again a little further down the road.

Needing some good advice here as well as maybe a blow-up and shop manual step by step if I get into this.

Thanks guys. Happy Presidents Day.

I have a 94 non tilt wheel and I was reading up on it and there is an upper and lower bearing in the column that causes that issue. That's all I remember about it and I didn't research further since I don't have that issue. Sandy

except that is for a 92 and newer column which is a completely different animal from the OP'S 91.

yes you can take the column apart and rebuild it, but i feel it is much easier to just replace it with a better one from a junkyard since i get good columns for $50

I thought about that, but this truck has been pampered its whole life and has considerably low miles. I'm doubtful that something sitting in a yard has been maintained and feel that I will run into the same issue soon down the road with said column.

I think I'd rather just rebuild it but I don't have the proper information to do so. I also have read that it can get pretty pricey but have yet to see any estimated numbers to make that determination on my own. One mans opinion on what "pricey" is can differ do too what his truck might be worth and I think mine is well worth putting money into.
