I see you don't have any replies, so I'll see if I can get things started.
Is your 02 3.0L 2wd, or 4wd?
As I understand it, the 2L5P-AB model tranny is for years 02-03, 2wd & the 1L5P-AA is for years 01-02, 2wd.

2002 ford ranger xlt 3.0 2wd
Thats what I wanted to know. Started cleaning it up, noticed the pieces of valve body in the pan and the bolts were loose, gaskets were blown, waiting for a upgrade kit to come in and get it fixed. Hopefully that should fix my random not wanting to go onto drive. Have to put it in first then shift to drive, the it does fine. Just a little history. Thanks for the help, let you know how it turns out.
